Penis enlargement surgery: does it really work?

There are two main types of surgeries that help increase the size of the penis: one to increase its length and the other to increase its width. Although these surgeries can be used by anyone, they are not offered as they are considered only as a cosmetic improvement of the body.

Furthermore, this type of surgery usually does not produce the expected results and can even cause serious complications such as penile deformation, scarring or infections.

Therefore, the need for penis enlargement surgery should always be discussed with a urologist to understand the benefits and risks in each case.

Operation to increase the width

Penis enlargement surgery

Surgery to increase the width of the penis can be performed in two ways:

  • Fat injection: Liposuction is performed on another part of the body, such as the hips, abdomen or legs, and then some of this fat is injected into the penis to fill it and increase its volume;
  • Mesh Placement: An artificial, biodegradable mesh with cells is placed under the skin and around the shaft of the penis to provide more volume.

Depending on the type of surgery and the specific case, an increase in the diameter of the penis of 1. 4 to 4 cm can occur.

In any case, the risk is high: the injection of fat can lead to deformation of the penis, while with the positioning of the mesh the development of infections is more frequent.

Surgery to increase length

When the goal is to increase penis size, surgery is usually recommended to cut the ligament that connects the penis to the pubic bone, allowing the penis to sag further and appear larger.

Although this surgery can increase the size of the flaccid penis by about 2 cm, this is often not noticeable when the organ is in an erect position. Additionally, due to ligament cutting, many men report that the height of their penis decreases during erection, which can make intimate contact difficult.

How is the recovery going?

Recovery from penis enlargement surgery is relatively quick and you may be able to return to work within 1 week of the procedure.

In most cases you can go home the day after the operation, it is only advisable to rest at home until the stitches are removed and follow some recommendations, including taking painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs prescribed by your doctor, as well as keeping your penis always dry and clean.

Sexual intercourse should be resumed only after 6 weeks, or as directed by your doctor, while more vigorous exercise, such as running or going to the gym, should only be started after 3-6 months.

Other penis enlargement options

Other available penis enlargement solutions use pills or vacuum pumps, which increase the amount of blood in the genitals and can therefore make the penis appear larger.

Furthermore, when you are overweight, the penis may be covered in fat, which is why the urologist may also recommend liposuction of the private parts, which removes excess fat and, for example, opens the shaft of the penis better.
